Exams

There will be two midterm examinations and a final examination. The midterm exams will be given outside of class, and are scheduled as follows:

Exam 1	Thursday, April 19	4 - 6 pm, Kemeny 008
Exam 2	Tuesday, May 8	4 - 6 pm, Kemeny 008
Final Exam	Saturday, June 2	8 - 11 am, Kemeny 007

Homework Policy

Homework will be assigned for each class meeting, and will consist of two parts: a graded set, and a practice set.

You will complete the graded portion online using Webwork. If you do not receive an email assigning you a login name and password for Webwork by the first day of class, then you should contact your instructor as soon as possible.

Assignments will be available to start at 6 am on the morning of each class day, and will be due at 3:00pm on the day of the next class meeting (so the set for Monday's class will be due on Wednesday, etc.) Please note that Webwork will not accept late assignments.

The practice set will be odd-numbered problems from the textbook. You can log on to hotmath (using the password given in class) to get complete step-by-step solutions to these problems.

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the midterm exam, homework, and the final exam as follows:

Midterm Exams	200 points
Homework	50 points
Final Exam	200 points
Total	450 points

The Honor Principle

On Exams: No help given or received. No calculators or computing devices are allowed.

On Homework: Collaboration on homework is permitted and encouraged. A discussion of the general idea of the problem(s) with instructors, tutors or fellow students is desirable. However, each student is expected to complete his or her assignments individually and independently. Computing devices are allowed on homework.

Tutorials

We have a graduate TA, Salvador Reynozo, who will run tutoring sessions in 105 Kemeny Hall, on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9pm. Tutorials will begin on Thursday, March 29.

Also note that the Tutor Clearinghouse will organize study groups for this course, and private one-on-one tutors are also sometimes available for Math 8. The tutors and study group leaders are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If you would like to have a tutor or sign up with a study group, please go to 301 Collis and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.

Disabilities

Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
