Exams

There will be a "preliminary exam", a "midterm" exam and a final exam. The preliminary exam and midterm will each come in two parts, an in-class portion in the xhour, followed by a take-home portion handed out in the xhour and due the next day. The exams are scheduled as follows:

Preliminary Exam	October 13, 2011	In class / Takehome exam
Midterm Exam	November 3, 2011	In class / Takehome exam
Final Exam	Monday, December 5, 2011	8 - 11am

Homework Policy

• Homework will be assigned daily and the weeks assignments will be collected on Mondays.
• I reserve the right to collect homework daily if it appears people are abusing the privilege of having homework collected just once a week.
• Late homework will not be accepted in the absense of divine intervention or matters of similar weight.
• Unexcused late and missing papers count zero.

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the midterm exam, homework, and the final exam as follows:

Preliminary Exam	75 points
Midterm Exam	125 points
Homework	100 points
Final Exam	200 points
Total	500 points

The Honor Principle

Collaboration on homework is permitted and encouraged, but it is a violation of the honor code for someone to provide the answers for you.

Religous Observances

Some students may wish to take part in religious observances that occur during this academic term. If you have a religious observance that conflicts with your participation in the course, please meet with me before the end of the second week of the term to discuss appropriate accommodations.
