Office Hours
MWF 1-2, in my office in 1-O Bradley. Other hours by appointment; I'm generally here most weekdays until rather late, and usually check my email regularly. Feel free to drop by.

Textbook
Introduction to Mathematical Programming, by Frederick Hillier and Gerald Lieberman, Macintosh edition.

Homework
I've always thought that it was silly to assign reading after the material was gone over in class or to assign problems before the material was covered in class, so I'm going to try a split homework: half the homework will be problems on the material just covered, and half will be reading the following section in preparation for the next class.

Grading
There will be two midterms and a cumulative final; the two midterms and the homework will total 20% each, and the final will count for 40% of your final grade. I will curve the final averages; I think you're all old enough to deal with a curve by now. I also reserve the right to adjust the curve in certain cases; I have had late bloomers before and have adjusted grades upwards when a student showed dramatic improvement on the final exam.

Disabilities
The college urges that everyone teaching a course add a statement about students with disabilities at the beginnning of the course. If you have a disability that you feel may affect your performance in this course, let me know about it. Please.

Honor Code
In this course, I don't mind if you work together on the homeworks, but only if you actually work together and you indicate who you worked with on the top of you homework. That is, I want you to do your own writeup at the end, and I want you to cite correctly.
Examinations are to be done on your own, without external assistance.
