Exams

There will be two "midterm examinations" and a final examination. The hour exams will come in two parts, an in-class portion in the xhour, followed by a take-home portion handed out in the xhour and due the next day. The exams are scheduled as follows:

Exam 1	October 21, 2003	In class / Takehome exam
Exam 2	November 11, 2003	In class / Takehome exam
Final Exam	Saturday, Dec 6, 2003	8 - 11am, 102 Bradley

Homework Policy

• Homework will be assigned daily and will be due at the beginning of the next class meeting.
• All homework assignments will be submitted via the web. More details are posted on the course assignment's web page.
• Late homework will not be accepted in the absense of divine intervention or matters of similar weight.
• Unexcused late and missing papers count zero.

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the midterm exam, homework, and the final exam as follows:

Midterm Exams	200 points
Homework	50 points
Final Exam	150 points
Total	400 points

The Honor Principle

On Exams: No help given or received

On Homework: Each person in the class has the potential to receive a homework assignment distinct from anyone elses, but all cut from the same mold. For example if the problem were to find the minimum of ax^2 + bx + c, each student would receive their own values of a, b, and c.

Collaboration on homework is permitted and encouraged, but obviously it is a violation of the honor code for someone to provide the answers for you.

Tutorials

Tutorial assistance for this course, that is, help with your homework, will be available in 103 Bradley, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays evenings 7 - 9pm. Tutorials will begin on Thursday, September 25.

Also note that the Tutor Clearinghouse will sometimes have private one-on-one tutors available for Math 13. The tutors are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If a student receives financial aid, the College will pay for three hours of tutoring per week. If you would like to have a tutor, please go to 301 Collis and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.

Disabilities

Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
