primary textbook will be
An
introduction to differentiable manifolds and Riemannian geometry,

Occasionally we will consider
topics from other textbooks such as Differential
topology, Graduate Text in Math. 33, by Morris W. Hirsch. In this case

Homework
will be assigned after each lecture. Homework problems assigned during
a week must be submitted next week at
the beginning of the class on Wednesday. Late homework will not be
accepted. The lowest HW score for a week problem set will be
dropped.
Exams
The
MidTerm will be distributed on October 22th and will be due
November 5th at the beginning of the class. The Final will be
distributed on Dec 3 and will be due
December 9th. You are free to use lecture notes, handouts and any
textbooks.
Honors code Collaboration
and discussion of general ideas related
to homework problems are allowed and encouraged. However you
must
write down all
solutions by yourself in your own words; copying is obviously a
violation of the honor code. If you work in group, the names of
collaborators must be written on the solution sheet.
As for exams, no
collaboration is permitted.
Students with disabilities Students
with disabilities
who will be taking this course and may need disability related
classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see
their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills
Center in Collis Center to
register for
support services.
Religious
observance
Some
students may wish to take
part in religious observances that occur during this academic term. If
you have a religious observance that conflicts with your participation
in the course, please meet with me before the end of the second week of
the term to discuss appropriate accommodations.
