Outline

We will be covering chapters 1 - 4 and 6-9.

Grading

Daily Homework

A homework set will be assigned daily. Each set is due at the beginning of the next class period. A selection of problems from each set will be graded to count towards the homework grade, but students must turn in all homework problems assigned.

Late homework assignments will not be accepted! If an assignment is not turned in at the beginning of class, it will be counted as a zero. Each student is allowed to drop exactly two homework assignments during the term.

Tests

There will be two hour exams--Wednesday, April 21st and Wednesday May 12. These will be given at night. The tests are closed book, closed notes . A final exam covering all material of the course will be scheduled later. It will emphasize the last part of the course.

Computing Your Final Grade

Homework 20%
Test 1 25%
Test 2 25%
Final Exam 30%

Honor Principle

You are encouraged to discuss the homework with each other. However, in each assignment turned in you must have done the majority of the actual mathematical work, and all of the write-up, independently. No collaboration is allowed on the exams.

Physically Disabled and Learning Disabled Students

Students with disabilities who are taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accomodations are encouraged to discuss this with me as soon as possible.
