Homework Due: July 11

The potential problem list for this week is:

  • Chapter 3: 2, 8, 17-19, 21, 24, 25.
  • Chapter 4: 1, 4, 5 (see ch. 2 for a description of U(20)), 8a, 9, 14, 16, 20, 27, 29, 32, 38, 53.
  • Chapter 5: 3-5, 8, 10, 13, 14, 16, 21, 24, 28.
  • Note: When you are writing up your solutions, look at the solution set that I handed out after the last assignment. These are examples of what you should be aiming for when you write your proofs. The homework assignments are designed to help you learn to write more sophisticated proofs as well as to learn the course material.
