Homework

In Math 11 you have a number of responsibilities, the first of which is being fully aware of the content of the general information page.

In particular, that page contains:

There are web-based homework (WeBWorK) assignments which are due before each class period (and collected the following class period), as well as written assignments which are due once a week.

WeBWorK

The daily web-based problems can be accessed via the WeBWorK Login. See also the WeBWorK homepage containing a FAQ and quick start guide.

It is highly recommended that you keep a notebook in which you write up your WeBWorK homework (including your work as well as the answers). Then when you are studying for exams, you will have a record of your work to which to refer.

The first WeBWorK assignments include some review problems on single-variable calculus. Many of these are intended to be challenging problems rather than routine review, so do not worry if you have to not only go back to your old calculus textbook but also do some serious thinking. That is the intention. Remember that your graduate student TAs are there to help you during tutorial.

WeBWorK assigned from each class is due at 10 am the day of the next class. Therefore the day01 homework was assigned on the first day of class (September 12) and is due on Wednesday, September 14. On WeBWorK itself, the due date is listed as September 16. This is because while homework is due on the day of the next class, it is not collected until 10 am on the following class day, so you can still get credit. We expect you to turn in homework when it is due, so you will have done those problems as preparation for the next class--but you have the authority to grant yourself a short extension if necessary, at no penalty.

Reading assignments

Read the assigned sections of the textbook before each class.

Written homework assignments

The weekly written homework assignments are posted below. For more information, see homework policy. Written homework should be turned in to the homework boxes outside of Kemeny 105 by 3:30pm on the due date.
