Jody's Trip to Lima, Peru

During spring break '99 I was invited to give lectures on my research in Lima, Peru. My first lecture was in the Raul Porras Barrenchea Chamber (see photo) of the Peruvian Congress and my second talk was in the School of Mathematics of the Universidad de San Marcos, the oldest university in the Americas. They were by special invitation of Dr. Edith Mellado Cespedes, Presidenta de la Comision de Ciencia y Tecnologia. I went with Professor Jim Kuypers (Office of Speech), who also gave a lecture in the Congress. We were hosted by Dr. Jose Elice Navarro (see photo), Director General of the Congress of Peru, and Dr. Covesca Piedra (see photo), La Oficialia Mayor del Congreso. We also went to Cuzco and Macchu Picchu (see photo) and several other villages in the Andes Mountains during the trip.
